Become an Official

What is an official

In the European Youth Parliament (EYP), an official is anyone who holds a formal role during a session to help it run smoothly. Officials are not delegates (participants debating resolutions). Instead, they take on leadership, organising, or supportive duties within the different official teams in EYP sessions:

  • Academic team
  • Organising team
  • Media team
  • Jury

There are several types of officials in EYP:

  • Chairpersons (Chairs): Lead the work of a committee. They guide discussions, team-building, and help the committee write its resolution. Before the session, the Chairs prepare the Topic Overviews that delegates receive before the session.
  • Organisers: Handle the logistics; food, transport, accommodation, venues, communication, and general session management.
  • Media Team Members (MTMs): Part of the Media Team. They create videos, articles, and photos to document and add to the session experience.
  • Academic Board: Led by the President and Vice-Presidents. They oversee all academic parts of the session, lead the Chairs, and ensure quality debate.
  • Head Organiser (HO): Manages the Organisers and Core Organisers; they make sure the whole session happens properly.
  • Editorial Team: Led by the Editor and sometimes Editorial Assistants, who coordinate the Media Team’s work.
  • Head of Jury & Jury Members: In sessions with selections (like Nationals), they evaluate delegates for future opportunities.

In short: Officials are the people running the session from behind the scenes and leading its activities. Being selected as an official usually means you have previous experience and have shown skills in leadership, teamwork, or creativity.

How to use the EYP Member Platform

What does the Member Platform offer? Why do you need it, and how can you utilise it to the fullest?

The Member Platform is the website that holds all information about events and members of the European Youth Parliament. This platform is easy to use and is helpful to all members who want to apply to become officials or who want to learn more about EYP.

As a member of the European Youth Parliament, it is essential that you have an account on this platform, as it is the organisation’s way to keep track of its members, as well as a way for you to keep track of your events and progress without the need for a participation certificate. Applications for all official roles are done only through this platform, where the team leaders can check your confirmed events and, if any, your received evaluations.

After creating an account, you will be sent to the Home page of the Member Platform, which looks like this:

On the top right, you can find your profile, while below it you can see news from all National Committees (NCs) and the International Office (IO). On this tab, they share open calls as well as important news within the network.

In the middle of the page, you can see the Upcoming Events within the network. When an NC shares a new event with the network, they are obliged to also add it to the Member Platform. The event is then added to the list of other events, where they are ordered in chronological order.

The menu is on the left side of the page. Here, you can navigate through the different pages that the EYP Member Platform offers, all of which are explained below.

Events: The Events page resembles the middle of the Home page.  It is divided into three tabs, Upcoming Events, My Events, and Past Events. On Upcoming Events, you can chronologically go through the events happening in NCs all around Europe and check which ones have open calls. On My Events, you will find the events you attended, and in Past Events you can check out all events the Network has been up to in the past.

News: Here you can find all news that NCs and the IO have shared with the Network.

Evaluations: After you attend an event, your team leader can write an evaluation about your performance at the event. After being submitted, you can check all these evaluations here.

National Committees: On this page, you can find a list of all National Committees of EYP. If you click on one of the NCs, you can see their events, members, and news.

Wiki: The EYP Wiki, otherwise known as the EYP Knowledge Bank, has a selection of materials, guides, and templates, all important to use when in an EYP context. They feature information on Communications, Organising, Resources, etc…

When clicking on an event, you will be transported to a page such as the one above. There, you can find:

  • Event Details: date and place, important booklets
  • Description: which has more information about the session, such as the session theme
  • Open Calls: where you can apply for the role that you want. Please note that you can apply only when these calls are open. To know when they are open, keep your eyes on the EYP Norway (@eypnorway) Instagram Page. Make sure to complete and submit your application through the Member Platform before the calls are closed.
  • Participants, where you can see all the participants of this session.

Congratulations! Now you have all the information on how to perfectly navigate through the Members Platform.

Open Calls

Crafting a strong application is essential for securing roles in EYP and offers a wide range of benefits beyond EYP, including applications for college, career opportunities, and more.
