Our flagship conference is made possible by a wide variety of public and private sponsors and partners, and today we would like to present one of each.
Tromsø 2023 is funded by Nordplus Horizontal, a programme funded by the Nordic Council of Ministers. The Nordplus Horizontal programme supports projects of the Nordics with cross-sector involvement - in our case education and volunteering. It is especially the objective of addressing broad and complex challenges which makes Nordplus a valuable partner for us. We share a philosophy of lifelong learning, using non-traditional methods to gain skills and knowledge for active citizenship and professional life.

Tom Wilhelmsen’s Foundation is a financial contributor to our conference. The Foundation is a private and independent foundation founded by ship owner Tom Wilhelmsen, and funded by the Wilhelmsen shipping company. It is especially the educational, cultural, and social dimensions of our event that falls within the objectives of Tom Wilhelmsen’s Foundation. The Foundation enables important educational and cultural events and programmes across the country, and we are happy to work with them.

It is with great pleasure that we announce the financial support this project has received from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs & the Ministry of Petroleum and Energy.

Tromsø 2023 has been granted money from Arktis 2030 - a Ministry of Foreign Affairs programme aimed at increasing awareness of issues of the High North. Cooperation between Arctic states, the furthering of the Norwegian engagement as a polar nation, and support to organisations devoted to dialogue on issues of the Arctic are all goals we share with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. The nature of the Norwegian Government’s visions and commitments for the High North also resonated with our philosophy of furthering peaceful democratic relations, and facilitating multilateral cooperation to promote sustainable development. The work of the Ministry of Petroleum and Energy on the green transition is also relevant to the sustainability and security aspects of our session theme. In addition, energy matters are highly relevant to young Europeans - as it impacts matters of standards of living and financial security now more than ever before in our lives.

2022 has been an exciting year with sessions happening as well as Tromsø 2023 receiving its Green Light. We can't wait for 2023 to be even more exciting with the IS taking place in March - and the Ski regional session in January.

They are here! The last team of Tromsø 2023 - the event safe persons - has joined in.

They will be present both pre session as well as during the session for anybody who needs a safe space, a talk, and to help the rest of the officials and participants get a safe and comfortable experience.

Our Youth participation activity falls under the non-formal education objectives of the programme, and we share the Commission’s goal of fostering young European democracy. At Tromsø 2023, we are particularly excited to work towards the common objective of bringing together decision makers and youth. In the Arctic context, many decision makers on the local, national, and international level participate in active dialogue about the present and future of the region, and take action to ensure its prosperous future. We want to put emphasis on the value of the experiences of locals, as Arctic communities face unique environmental and security challenges, and draw on these experiences when our participants develop their policy proposals.
